Nourishing the whole ecosystem in body, mind, and spirit.
We nurture the living systems on our farm, supporting the natural and native biodiversity of our woodlands, wetlands, and open spaces. We produce food, fiber, and herbs with living forces that nourish the whole human being in body, mind, and spirit. We strive to foster a resilient, learning community where people can develop a deeper relationship to the land and to their food.
We are excited to be building a resilient living landscape, made abundant with healthy food that overflows with nourishing goodness to our surrounding communities!
Our farm is an integrated, whole, living organism. This organism is made up of many interdependent elements: fields, forests, plants, animals, soils, compost, people, and the spirit of the place.
We work to bring plants, animals, and soil together through living, conscious relationships, so that they each support and balance the whole.
Regenerative Soil Management
We firmly believe that the future of agriculture lies in our deeper desire to support the utmost well being of our Earth, and this starts with caring for the soil and everything below the surface.
The Land
Our Practices
We tend a web of ecosystems within Circadian Farm. Within this web, we are honored to be the caretakers of 40-acres of wetland. We also manage 22-acres of productive farm land, pasture, and grazing land and we steward 24-acres of woodland and forest which we utilize for warmth, food, shelter, and silvopasture for our animals. These forests include three stands of white and red pine planted by the last generation for all future generations (of people, plants, and wildlife) to enjoy. We hope to continue the tradition of giving. Our wildlands include numerous stands of diversified forest groves and wild wetland that support beaver, muskrat, numerous waterfowl, songbirds, and raptors, and so many other creatures!
Silvopasture
Silvopasture is an agroforestry practice that combines forestry, livestock grazing, and forage production on the same land. It's a sustainable and innovative way to manage working lands. We incorporate silvopasture management into our everyday farm work as it provides a number of benefits, including increased food production, improved soil health, and reduced erosion.
By combining forests and livestock grazing, silvopasture helps conserve and restore native ecosystems, providing habitat for wildlife, improving air and water quality, and sequestering carbon.
